Southeast EMMY Award Presentation to SCAD
On Thursday, March 22, 2018, Jeremy Campbell, president of the Southeast EMMY Chapter (one of 19 chapters of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences), presented SCAD President Paula Wallace with a special honor for her advocacy of education in the entertainment arts.
Thank you, Jeremy!
For decades, our university has celebrated the work of everyone who makes the TV world go ‘round … showrunners, scenic artists, sound designers, scriptwriters, and every other profession in a cast and crew. Just last month, I presented awards to Zach Braff and Alan Cumming at SCAD aTVfest. SCAD loves the industry, because it’s full of our alumni … which is why we created SCADFILM, Atlanta’s preeminent program for professional networking, led by TV legend Leigh Seaman. If you want to get involved, please see Leigh!
There’s a lot about SCAD you might like to know. Did I mention that SCAD makes films and TV shows, too? We employ filmmakers, producers, writers, and others who make movie magic, such as Ovation for Oscar, which screened at Cannes, as well as our student-created sitcoms Nailed It and The Buzz, which won the 2017 Student EMMY for Best Scripted Series.
We also created SCAD FASH, the nation’s only museum dedicated to fashion and film. And hot off the press, next month, SCAD FASH opens an exhibition of costumes from The Handmaid’s Tale, with a premiere of Season 2, Episode 3. That’s pretty amazing, right? We’re giving you passes. I want you all to come see it! So exciting!
Thank you again to Jeremy and everyone with the Southeast EMMYs. And now let me invite you to the second floor, for a sneak peek at what’s next in American television. Thank you!
